Why Build a Better Back program was created

After more than a decade of teaching Pilates, and also qualifying and working as a Physiotherapist along the way, I’ve seen hundreds of people being recommended to do Pilates for their back/core and posture. After starting Pilates myself due to lower back pain, I know what it feels like to want to get the most out of Pilates that will help long-term, but in a simplified way.

This is why I have condensed down all of the things that I have seen work best with my clients over the years, in a simple and digestible way to help you understand it better too.

I have heard many questions and concerns people have had about starting Pilates, so I decided to put together all of my own learnings, my client experience and personal experience into a program that:

- cuts out the fancy stuff to give you the things you need to build a stronger back and core

- is digestible and easy to follow, teaching you WHY and HOW of posture, core and backs!

- is a fully-online program for you to do at home with just a Pilates mat

- is short and sweet to make it easier to stick to

- slowly progresses from the basics to make sure you get the most out of it

- AND most importantly, gradually builds a long-term home program for you to keep up after the 12-weeks so you know what to do to keep it up!

I hope you learn loads and find as much joy within this program as I have creating it for you!

The Pilates method teaches you to be in control of your body, not at its mercy.

Jess Horgan

Ex-Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

My Pilates journey started with years of low back pain and eventually finding something that helped it improve and kept it away. I loved Pilates so much that I studied to become a Pilates instructor, took it a step further to become a Physiotherapist through a Master’s degree and brought it all back to a full-time Pilates career after working in Physiotherapy for a couple of years.

It frustrates me to see so many people not knowing that Pilates may be the thing to help them build a strong core, strong back and also improved posture, and find themselves relying on numerous healthcare professionals, massage therapists and looking to quick-fixes instead. Pilates is an amazing tool for so many people, and can be a great addition to your routine.

My aim was to provide a simplified, essential Pilates program to give you the no-fluff tools to build a sustainable Pilates routine that is focussed on your back.

Build a Better Back program was intentionally created from what I have seen over the years, what has worked for me and for many of my clients, and condensed down into a simplified approach that is quick and simple to follow.
